Ottawa ( ) — A fine of $9,000 was imposed on Hervé Pouts on , following his conviction in the Court of Québec on four counts of failing to register, two under the Lobbying Act and two under the earlier legislation, the Lobbyists’ Registration Act.
Mr. Pouts pleaded guilty to all charges in Montreal on and was sentenced to a total fine of $9,000 on .
“I am proud of the work my investigators did in this case that resulted in a guilty plea on each charge,” said Karen E. Shepherd, Commissioner of Lobbying.
The Commissioner referred the case involving Mr. Pouts to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on , as required by the Lobbying Act when there exist reasonable grounds to believe that an offence had occurred.
Mr. Pouts has 30 days to appeal his sentence to the Court of Québec. The Office will have no comment during the appeal period.
