Description of the organization's activities:
Canadian Diabetes Association promotes the health of Canadians through diabetes research, education, service and advocacy. Programs conducted include: 1) research grants and awards to qualified donees; 2) professional & advocacy publications; 3) educational publications, magazines and newsletters; 4) nutrition guides and cookbooks; 5) support to health care professionals to further education in diabetes care; 6) support groups; 7) camping services to children in which they learn to live with diabetes more successfully; 8) Corporate Food Value Symbols programmes on consumer food products; 9) support elimination of blanket discrimination of those affected by diabetes; 10) support and administer government programmes designed to aid those in need with required supplies; 11) provide supplies required by those affected by diabetes at competitive prices and enhanced services; 12) advocate/negotiate for access to care and services; 13) development of guidelines for standard of diabetes care; 14) provide a network of community access for those affected by diabetes.

Organization's membership or classes of membership:
Regular Members shall be entitled to: (i) if otherwise qualified, stand for election as a Director; (ii) submit to the Nominating Committee the names of individuals to stand for election as Directors; (iii) elect Delegate (Elected) Members; and (iv) vote on such fundamental matters as properly come before them, including, as appropriate, those matters referred to in Article 15.
Delegate Members shall be entitled to receive notice of and attend all meetings of the Delegate Members and to vote on all matters on which members of a corporation are entitled to vote including those specified in Section 4.1.

- Registered Members have right to vote, privilege of holding office, and entitlement to receipt of all services and benefits of the Association as determined by the Board of Directors.Associate Members participate in activities of the Association or donate financially to the Association - non voting members.Life Members appointed by Diabetes Educator Section and the Clinical and Scientific Section of the Association.Honourary Members are appointed by the Board of Directors for a set term and are not entitled to hold office as an Officer or a Director but are otherwise entitled to privileges of a Registered Member.
