THE CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS IS THE NATIONAL TRADE ASSOCIATION AND THE COLLECTIVE VOICE OF BROADCASTING IN CANADA. IT REPRESENTS PRIVATE BROADCASTERS, INCLUDING TELEVISION AND RADIO STATIONS, AND SPECIALTY, PAY AND PAY-PER-VIEW SERVICES. THE CAB ADVISES MEMBERS ON A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES SUCH AS REGULATIONS, ADVERTISING, COPYRIGHT, SOCIAL CONCERNS AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS. THE ASSOCIATION PUBLISHES BRIEFS, HANDBOOKS, POLICY PAPERS AND NEWSLETTERS. IT DEVELOPS AND PUBLISHES INDUSTRY CODES TO HELP BROADCASTERS DEAL WITH SOCIAL CONCERNS AND TO MAINTAIN HIGH STANDARDS IN PROGRAMMING. THE CAB ALSO PROVIDES ITS MEMBERS WITH A NUMBER OF SERVICES THAT ASSIST MEMBERS IN SERVING THEIR COMMUNITIES, EG. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT CAMPAIGNS.
