- West Coast Reduction Ltd (WCRL) has two projects that require us to proceed with investment now:
1. The first is to move our rendering capacity from the Port to another location in the lower mainland region of Vancouver.
2. The second project entails doubling our storage and refining capacity at the Port of Vancouver to service the needs of local biofuel production as well as the rising demand for canola oil exports.
Unfortunately, the Port of Vancouver has indicated to WCRL that our lease will not be secure past 2026. We are only asking for an unconditional 5 years to 2031 to make our investments possible. We are asking the Federal Government to intervene and ensure our lease security.

In-house Corporation Details
Description of activities
West Coast Reduction provides a wide range of services essential to the efficient functioning of Western Canada’s agriculture and food – as well as bio-fuels – sectors. Over more than five decades we have supported Canada’s agriculture and food sectors, diverting components – like used restaurant oils, animal processing waste – out of landfills and converting them into useful products such as animal and aquaculture feed ingredients. Over the last several years, our focus has grown and we have invested in capacity and infrastructure to help meet increasing demand for animal fats, which have become an essential ingredient in the creation of next generation liquid bio-fuels. In addition to our rendering and fats operations, we also play a major role in Canada’s canola oil trade, storing and handling over 50% of Canada’s Asia-bound canola exports.
