- Engaged in the debate to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Focused on the issue of extraterritorial enforcement of Canadian law.
Policies or Program
- Air Emissions Standards.
We are presently working with Environment and Climate Change Canada on developing new air policy.Our objective is to make sure our industry is fairly categorized.
- CPA is monitoring developments on a Clean Electricity Standard and the potential impact this policy could have on the availability of wood fiber to make composite wood panels.
- Monitoring updates to the Canadian Chemicals Management Plan
Regulation
- Addressing Output-based performance standard being developed by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
- Addressing proposed clean fuels regulations being developed by ECCC.
- Discussing with Health Canada implementation issues associated with the final formaldehyde regulation finalized in mid-2021 and entering in to force in January 2023.
- Participating in a workgroup as a representative of industry addressing updates to the NPRI reporting requirements for RY2020.

Description of the organization's activities
Represents manufacturers of particleboard, MDF and hardboard on regulatory, technical, safety, standards, environmental and product acceptance issues. Is the voice of the composite panel industry in North America. Also responsible for the Grademark Certification Program and is an accredited standards setting organization and is the sponsor for the ANSI standards.
