Submitted, at Transport Canada's request, a corporate position paper and recommendations for a government negotiating mandate with respect to proposed consultations on air transport between Canada and the United States.
Subject Matter: Prospective: As a result of the failure to conclude a new agreement on air transport between Canada and the French Republic, we will submit recommendations to Transport Canada and International Trade Canada regarding further measures to be taken in order to achieve negotiating objectives in this matter.We will make recommendations to Transport Canada regarding bilateral air negotiating priorities involving the following countries: France, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Germany, UK, Italy and Belgium.We expect to be making representations with respect to the review announced by the Minister of Transport of government policy on the wet-leasing by Canadian air carriers of foreign aircraft and crew.We expect to be making representations with respect to a legislative proposal for establishing a legal framework for the oversight and regulation of Canada's airport authorities.
