Description of the organization's activities: THE CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS IS THE NATIONAL TRADE ASSOCIATION AND THE COLLECTIVE VOICE OF PRIVATE BROADCASTING IN CANADA. IT REPRESENTS THE VAST MAJORITY OF PRIVATE BROADCASTERS, INCLUDING RADIO STATIONS, NETWORKS, SPECIALTY AND PAY SERVICES AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERS. THE CAB ADVISES MEMBERS ON A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES SUCH AS REGULATIONS, ADVERTISING, COPYRIGHT, SOCIAL CONCERNS AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS. THE ASSOCIATION PUBLISHES BRIEFS, HANDBOOKS, POLICY PAPERS AND MONTHLY NEWSLETTERS. IT DEVELOPS AND PUBLISHES INDUSTRY CODES TO HELP BROADCASTERS DEAL WITH SOCIAL CONCERNS AND TO MAINTAIN HIGH STANDARDS IN PROGRAMMING. THE CAB ALSO PROVIDES ITS MEMBERS WITH A NUMBER OF SERVICES THAT ASSIST MEMBERS IN SERVING THEIR COMMUNITIES, EG . PSA CAMPAIGNS.

IT HAS RADIO TELEVISION AND SPECIALTY SERVICES MEMBERS AS WELL AS ASSOCIATE MEMBERS. MEMBERSHIP IS DIVIDED INTO THE FOLLOWING CLASSES: ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP : A) RADIO SINGLE LICENCE B) RADIO MULTIPLE LICENCE C) RADIO NETWORK D) TELEVISION SINGLE LICENCE E) TELEVISION MULTIPLE LICENCE AND F) TELEVISION NETWORK. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO ANY PERSON ENGAGED IN ANY BUSINESS OR PROFESSION CONNECTED WITH RADIO OR TELEVISION BROADCASTING, WHO IS NOT ENTITLED TO ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP PROVIDED THAT THE CAB BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVES THEIR MEMBERSHIP AND THE PERSON PAYS THE REQUIRED FEE PRESCRIBED FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP.
