THE FEDERATION HAS A MEMBERSHIP OF 70 COMPANIES WHICH OPERATE OR ACT AS AGENTS FOR MORE THAN 300 STEAMSHIP LINES,THE FEDERATION REPRESENTS 95% OF OCEAN VESSELS TRADING TO AND FROM PORTS IN ATLANTIC CANADA. THE VESSELS REPRESENTED BY OUR MEMBERS TRANSPORT VIRTUALLY ALL OF THE COMMERCE MOVING BETWEEN EASTERN CANADA & PORTS OVERSEAS. THE MANDATE OF THE FEDERATION IS TO PROTECT THE INTERESTS OF ITS MEMBERS ON ALL MATTERS AFFECTING THE OPERATION OF INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. OUR PRIMARY AREAS OF CONCERN INCLUDE POLICIES, LEGISLATION & REGULATIONS GOVERNING SUBJECTS AS DIIVERSE AS CANADIAN PORTS, POLLUTION PREVENTION, MARINE PILOTAGE, STOWAWAYS & OVERLAND OPERATIONS. THE FEDERATION DISPATCHES, ON A REGULAR BASIS, CIRCULAR LETTERS & BULLETINS SUMMARIZING DEVELOPMENTS IN THE MARITIME SECTOR.
