Description of the organization's activities: THE TORONTO HUMANE SOCIETY (THS)IS A NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION SOLELY FUNDED THROUGH CHARITABLE DONATIONS DEDICATED TO PROMOTE THE HUMANE CARE AND PROTECTION OF ALL ANIMALS AND TO PREVENT CRUELTY AND SUFFERING. FOUNDED IN 1887, THE THS HAS THE DISTINCTION OF BEING CANADA'S OLDEST AND CONTINUALLY OPERATING HUMANE SOCIETY.THE THS HAS EXTENSIVE FACILITIES TO HOUSE BOTH DOMESTIC ANIMALS AND WILDLIFE. A STAFF OF OVER 100, AS WELL AS THE ACTIVITIES OF APPROXIMATELY 600 DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS, ARE THE BACKBONE OF THE THS'S ACTIVITIES.
