Description of the organization's activities: THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE ("NHL") IS ORGANIZED AS AN UNINCORPORATED NONPROFIT ASSOCIATION CONSISTING OF THIRTY (30) MEMBER CLUBS ("MEMBER CLUBS") LOCATED IN FOUR CANADIAN PROVINCES AND SEVENTEEN STATES AND ONE TERRITORY OF THE UNITED STATES, WHO HAVE JOINED TOGETHER IN AN UNDERTAKING FOR THE PURPOSES OF ENGAGING ANNUALLY IN A REGULAR SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP AND PLAYOFF HOCKEY GAMES ACROSS CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES.
Organization's membership or classes of membership: TWENTY-EIGHT MEMBER CLUBS PARTICIPATED IN THE NHL'S CHAMPIONSHIP AND PLAYOFF HOCKEY GAMES DURING THE 1999-2000 SEASON. THE EXPANSION CLUBS COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS AND MINNESOTA WILD WILL BEGIN PLAY IN THE 2000-2001 SEASON.
