Subject Matter: Retrospective: The federation is the permanent secretariat for the annual congress of the social sciences and humanities which is the largest gathering of scholars in North America. The Federation also manages tha aid to scholarly publications programme which disburses funds to scholarly works. The Federation promotes and defends the interest of social sciences and humanists, specifically on issues such as increasing the budget of social sciences and humanities research council (SSHRC), increasing core funding to post-secondary education by increasing provincial transfers, and establishing a dedicated post-secondary education transfer. The federation is also active on issues of copyright and commercializing research.
Subject Matter: Prospective: Federation will work on Bill C-60 (Copyright Bill), establishing a post-secondary education transfer, increasing federal block transfers to the provinces, increasing the budget of the social sciences and humanities research council and research commercialization.
