Grant, Contribution or Other Financial Benefit

• Cultural Spaces Canada: Seeking funding from this infrastructure program to match contributions from the province, the municipal government and the private sector. Trying to find out if we are eligible, by definition, as a cultural institution or museum.
• Request funding to support capital and research activities for the Zoo’s Animal Health Centre. Based on the premise that all major catastrophic disease activity has come from the activities of humans in close proximity to animals (i.e. avian flu, mad cow disease), it is clear that the Zoo may be an important source of fauna information and non-invasive research. The Zoo's Animal Health Centre may play an important role in understanding the relationship between humans and animals. Research is essential.
• Request funding to support the Zoo’s Husky Energy Endangered Species Reintroduction Program. Representatives of the Zoo will be in discussion with federal departments to raise awareness and/or grow programming and research that will manifest as desirable outcomes for wildlife and habitat for creatures in Canada and beyond.
• Request support and finances for both the capital and educational elements of our ENMAX Conservatory Project. The facility and its displays are intended to give the visitor the tools to take personal steps to become a steward of our environment.
• Seek funding and support from Ministry of Tourism in order to maintain the highest standards, create excellent facilities, provide educational opportunities and showcase important habitats in Canada and other parts of the world to continue to lead and contribute to the industry of tourism.
• Seek funding support to share knowledge and alternative energy solutions with Zoo visitors on site and virtually. The Zoo proposes to display and demonstrate Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System facilities. It will use environmentally friendly products. The Zoo will show how individuals and families can take realistic steps towards environmentally friendly practices.
• The Calgary Zoo seeks $5,000,000 in matching funding from the federal government (to demonstrate solidarity with provincial and municipal government contributions: $35 M and $30 M respectively) as well as the support from the private sector, in excess of $10 M for its capital/infrastructure campagin.
• We are seeking funding in the amount of $5M for a capital program (80th Anniversary Program) and will inform relevant ministers as well as individual federal Members of Parliament from Alberta (Alberta caucus) about the project so that they understand our needs and, if possible, support us in our efforts to secure funding.
