Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution

• Canada Transportation Act - Legislative amendments pertaining to final offer arbitration and/or level of service complaints in dealing with the railways
• Legislative amendments to the Canada Grain Act - modifications to regulations/legislation pertaining to mandatory grain inspection services, in particular, inward weighing and inspection
• Legislative amendments to the Canadian Wheat Board Act, as brought about by (and implementation of) the Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act
• Possible amendments to the Food and Drug Act, the Feeds Act and their regulations - Policy interpretation of the Food and Drug Act and Regulations and the Feeds Act and Regulations on grain and oilseed product requirements, notably the treatment of microbiologics, mycotoxins and additives.

Policies or Program

• Accessing federal contribution programs related to agribusiness - Financial support for innovation and research through the "Growing Forward" agriculture and agri-food policy framework.
• Adoption of Food Safety measures related to grain and oilseed products (HC, CFIA).
• International Trade issues related to grain and oilseed products (Global Affairs Canada, AAFC, CFIA, PMO) to: (a) support liberalized trade for agriculture and agri-food products, including increased market access, reduced trade distorting domestic and export subsidies, and the elimination of non-tariff barriers in the Doha Round agricultural trade negotiations taking place under the auspices of the World Trade Organization and in bi-lateral trade deals between Canada and other countries or regions; and (b) acquire the Government of Canada's assistance in working to remove technical barriers to trade in foreign countries (notably the USA, China, Japan and the EU) that have a negative impace on Canada's grain and oilseed product exports.
• Rail Freight Service Review with respect to concerns and interests of the grain and oilseed shippers.
