Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution, Policies or Program
- Enocuraging the Federal Government to adopt a legislative framework (which currently does not exist) for regulating all forms of electronic payments, such as use of debit cards, automatic withdrawls and deposits, purchases charged to a credit card, and other new Internet payment mechanisms.
- Improving the Federal Government and the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission's (CRTC) ability to reduce electronic spam, through changes to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the Competition Act and the Criminal Code of Canada.

- Canada's International Human Rights Policy as it relates to the export of asbestos to developing countries, the UN human rights review of Canada, review of new military technologhies such as lazer dazzlers, Canadian detainees abroad, and the humanitarian crisis in The Congo.
- Contracting Policy as it relates to procurement, defence spending and Canada's mission in Afghanistan.
- Contracting Policy as it relates to specifically the the amount of defence procurement and the percent of such procurement which has been sole sourced by the government.

- Instituting a policy framework for consumer representation that would guide decision-making within each federal department and which includes improved financing of Canadian consumer groups and associations.
- Intellectual Property Policy as it relates to counterfeiting and piracy.
- Promoting a competitive and transparent process to procure a replacement for the CF18s, consistent with Canada's defensive requirements and fiscal abilities, through the Next Generation Fighter Capability Project/F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program
- Representation within the Canadian Cabinet as it relates to creation of a cabinet-level representative for Canadian consumers in order to enhance the role of consumers in the Canadian Cabinet's decision making.

- The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) nuclear policy as it relates to NATO's Positions Regarding Nuclear Non-Proliferation, Arms Control and Disarmament.

The Rideau Institute is a non-partisan, not-for-profit, public policy research, consulting and advocacy group based in Ottawa. It provides independent research, analysis and commentary on public policy issues to decision makers, opinion leaders and the public.
