| Objets poursuivis : Renseignements rétrospectifs : | In the last two months, we have been focusing primarily on writing legal memoranda pertaining to our proposed legislation. This legislation would allow victims of terror to launch civil suits against local and state sponsors of terror. We have also been researching legal issues pertaining to tax relief for terror victims, the protection of Canadians abroad, and Canada's citizenship laws. All of these issues fall under our general mandate of seeking to improve Canada's counterterrorism policies. | ||||||||
| Objets poursuivis : Renseignements prospectifs : | In the next 6 months, we intend to work with Senators in having Bill S-225 pass through the Senate (currently it has passed second reading), and later on with the government in introducing it as a government bill or PMB in the House of Commons. This will require meetings with Cabinet ministers, Senators, and MPs of all parties. We will continue discussions with government officials about providing tax relief for terror victims, and creating regulations pertaining to certain terrorism-related Criminal Code provisions. | ||||||||
