- Bill C-246, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, the Fisheries Act, the Textile Labelling Act, the Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act and the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act including creating new offences regarding animal fighting, negligence, and brutal and vicious killing of an animal, shark finning and the importation of dog and cat fur into Canada while updating the definition of the bestiality offence.
- Bill S-203, Criminal Code, Fisheries Act, Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act with regards to ending the captivity of whales and dolphins including creating offences respecting cetaceans in captivity, prohibiting the taking of a cetacean into captivity and prohibiting the import of a cetacean into Canada and the export of a cetacean from Canada.
- Bill S-214, Food and Drugs Act with regards to prohibiting cosmetic animal testing and the sale of cosmetics developed or manufactured using cosmetic animal testing.

Description of the organization's activities
The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies is the national voice of humane societies and SPCAs. We bring together those who work with, and care for animals to promote respect and humane treatment toward all animals. We provide leadership on animal welfare issues and ensures these crucial messages are heard and understood from coast to coast. Our approach to improving the welfare of animals makes us a respected voice and key player in any national discussion on the use of animals.
