Founded in 1910, the Canadian Public Health Association is the independent voice for public health in Canada with links to the international community. As the only Canadian non-governmental organization focused exclusively on public health, we are uniquely positioned to advise decision-makers about public health system reform and to guide initiatives to help safeguard the personal and community health of Canadians and people around the world.
The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) is a national not-for-profit voluntary membership association founded in 1910 and incorporated in 1912. CPHA is composed of health professionals from over 25 health-related disciplines. Its members believe in universal and equitable access to the basic conditions necessary to achieve health for all Canadians. CPHA develops and communicates its positions and policies to promote healthy public policy, programs and practices. It also undertakes initiatives that develop tools and resources for public health practitioners and provides a forum for discussion on public health issues. CPHA promotes the improvement and maintenance of personal and community health according to the public health principles of disease prevention, health promotion and health protection.
The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) is a national not-for-profit association incorporated in 1912. Membership in the association is voluntary, and fee-based. Membership is open to any individual who subscribes to CPHA's vision and mission and is engaged or interested in public health. Membership categories are: Regular; Student (for full-time post-secondary students); Career in Transition (for people early in their career, newly-arrived in Canada, under- or unemployed, or otherwise living on a reduced income); Retired; and Honorary Life.

The members also provide expertise and they volunteer their time to assist the association advance its work. Membership in the association is voluntary, and fee-based. Membership categories are: Regular; Student (for full-time post-secondary students); Retired; Low Income; International (for non-residents of Canada); and Honorary Life.
