The carbon cycle research on wetlands and surrounding habitats - carbon aspect the program of interest is Canada's offset system as outlined in 'Turning the Corner: An Action Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gases and Air Pollution'. More specifically we are interested in 'Canada's Offset System for Greenhouse Gases: Guide for Protocol Developers' to ensure that our wetland and carbon research gets recognized so that wetlands are identified as an eligible carbon offset.

The aspect of interest is to have a federally supported forage conversion program that provides incentives to convert annual cropland to perennial cover resulting in improved provision of ecological goods and services and reduced costs to government.
