Potential lobbying related to co-operative enterprises generally (e.g. related to those organizations incorporated under the Canada Cooperatives Act). I keep my Lobby Registry active as I am on the Board of Directors of Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada. I am not doing any formal lobbying at this point (but I could potentially be asked to meet with an MP). Presently, I may see MPs and have informal conversations with them at conferences or special events.

Motion 100 was unanimously passed in early 2017, but no action has been taken by the government to develop the strategy around co-operatives at the national level (development of a strategy was the essence of Motion 100). Therefore, meetings with MPs are to encourage them to support the co-operative industries desire to see a strategy developed and implemented by the federal government.

The Canadian Co-operative Investment Fund (CCIF) was launched in late 2017. CCIF is an investment fund to develop co-operatives. $25 million has been invested by co-operatives, and the co-operative sector is requesting an matching investment from the federal government. It is not a donation; it is an investment in a loan fund that will loan money to growing co-operatives.
