Description of the organization's activities:
The Lung Health Foundation (legally the Ontario Lung Association) is a non-profit organization dedicated to organization dedicated to helping all Canadians breathe. We take a uniquely integrated approach to improving lung health through: investing in ground-breaking research, investing in direct programs and supports, promoting awareness and public education of lung health issues, and driving policy change. Our advocacy and lobbying activities are focused on helping to reduce the risk of lung disease, ensuring patients receive timely and accurate diagnosis, guaranteeing patients have equitable and prompt access to the best treatments, and ultimately providing patients with the best possible quality of life. Our work centers on asthma, lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It also includes other key areas affecting these lung disease states such as immunization, smoking/vaping prevention and cessation and access to medications/treatments.

Organization's membership or classes of membership:
The Lung Health Foundation is secretariat of the National Lung Health Alliance, a network of provincial lung organizations and national lung health charitites. The Lung Health Foundation has fostered two networks critical to executing its work: A Collaborative Network of Health professionals and researchers that provide input into the work of LHF and support dissemination and implementation efforts. And A Network of people with lived experience, their caregivers and those interested in advancing lung health. These members are critical in shaping the work of LHF to ensure the real needs of Canadians with lung disease and prevention efforts are met. Both networks are free to join.

- We have two societies of healthcare professionals committed to promoting the respiratory health of Ontarians through research, education and practice - the Ontario Thoracic Society (OTS) and the Ontario Respiratory Care Society (ORCS) Membership in the Ontario Respiratory Care Society (ORCS) is open to nurses, physiotherapists, respiratory therapists, pulmonary function technologists, occupational therapists, social workers, pharmacists, dietitians, kinesiologists, and others involved in various aspects of respiratory care. Membership in the Ontario Thoracic Society (OTS) is open to physicians and researchers with an interest in respiratory medicine, including residents and fellows in training.
