Heartland Generation plans to engage Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) on the "Clean Electricity Standard." This will include providing written and verbal feedback on the discussion papers and feedback on the development of associated regulation(s) under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act.
Following formal publication of the draft Clean Electricity Regulations in Canada Gazette 1, Heartland Generation will focus advocacy on the "end of prescribed life" concept, treatment of cogeneration facilities under the regulation, and the "allowable hours" calculations.

Heartland Generation plans to engage Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED), and staff at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on the Strategic Innovation Fund. This will include responding to "Call to Action" requests from ISED. Heartland Generation will provide technical input on decarbonization projects, and associated policies and financial incentives. Communication to the PMO will focus on demonstrating the benefits of clean hydrogen production and utilization across the Canadian economy, in service to the objectives articulated within the Clean Fuel Regulations and Clean Electricity Regulations.
