Description of the organization's activities:
Le mandat du GOPA est d'engager des réflexions et des analyses collectives, de formuler des positions politiques coordonnées et de les défendre auprès des autorités gouvernementales, des parlementaires et d'autres organes décisionnels en faveur des droits humains et de la justice sociale et environnementale dans les Amériques.
Dans l'accomplissement de ce mandat, le GOPA travaille à :
Suivre, partager et rapporter les expériences et les analyses des membres et de leurs partenaires sur les questions de droits humains et de justice sociale en Amérique latine et dans les Caraïbes.
Renforcer la capacité des membres à entreprendre un travail d’orientation politique sur la région.
Participer collectivement à des réseaux internationaux pertinents.
Dialoguer avec les responsables gouvernementaux et les décideurs, et plaider en faveur de politiques visant à protéger les droits humains et à promouvoir la justice sociale et environnementale dans les Amériques.
Le GOPA et ses organisations membres ont une tradition de collaboration active avec les organisations de la société civile en Amérique latine et dans les Caraïbes. De nombreux membres du GOPA participent à des visites régulières dans la région, d'autres ont des bureaux régionaux ou du personnel sur le terrain, et tous maintiennent des contacts réguliers avec des organisations partenaires locales, des analystes politiques et des défenseurs des droits humains dans plusieurs pays.

Le Groupe d'orientation politique pour les Amériques (GOPA) est un réseau national d'organisations de la société civile basées au Canada œuvrant pour les droits de la personne et la justice sociale et environnementale en Amérique latine et dans les Caraïbes. Il rassemble plus de vingt ONG internationales de développement et d'aide humanitaire, des organisations de défense des droits humains, des syndicats, des groupes confessionnels et de solidarité, et des institutions de recherche.
