Description of the organization's activities:
The Alzheimer Society of BC is a non-profit organization with focused on a society where people affected by dementia are welcomed, supported and included. Together with people with lived experience, we mobilize a broad community of care and support research into the disease to ensure people affected by dementia are not alone. We offer programs and services and provide dementia-related education and resources tailored to a variety of audiences including health care providers, individuals impacted by dementia and the community at large. We also host a range of awareness and fund-raising events to support our mission.
Organization's membership or classes of membership:
The Society is member in a national federation of Alzheimer Societies and operates and is governed by its own Board of Directors in British Columbia. The Society employs over 100 staff and recruits volunteers to deliver its programming and services to individuals living with dementia and their care givers, families and friends. The Society encourages community members including individuals, businesses, and community organization to access our education and resources and help us raise awareness, promote inclusion and reduce stigma.
