Description of the organization's activities:
The Canadian Transportation Equipment Association (CTEA)/ Association d'Équipement de Transport du Canada (AETC) membership is made up of commercial vehicle manufacturers, component/system suppliers & related stakeholders. The Association promotes compliance to safety regulations at the federal and provincial levels and therefore is engaged with Transport Canada - Road Safety Directorate and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Directorate, in addition to Environment Canada and Industry Science and Economic Development Canada, on matters relating to new regulations, and amendments to and interpretation of existing regulations. We are also engaged in organizing and supporting consortium test programs to benefit the manufacturer members.

There are four classes of membership. Manufacturer, Dealer/Distributor, Associate & Affiliate. Manufacturers are Corporations that assemble vocational on-highway trucks, tractors and trailers. Dealers/Distributors retail the products and provide services to the users of the vehicles and equipment. Associates are companies that supply services such as business systems and are not engaged in the in the actual manufacture of vehicles. Affiliate are other trade associates and government agencies that have an interest in the industry. The latter two categories do not have voting rights in the Association.
