Subject Matter: Retrospective: | WORLD VISION CANADA IS ACTIVE, MEETING WITH MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT (MPS) ACROSS PARTY LINES, AS WELL AS OTHER GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES ON ISSUES OF GLOBAL JUSTICE. WORLD VISION CANADA PARTICIPATES IN VARIOUS GOVERNMENT POLICY CONSULTATIONS INCLUDING THE PARLIAMENTARY FINANCE COMMITTEE, AND STANDING COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE. WORLD VISION CANADA IS ALSO ACTIVE IN A NUMBER OF NGO COALITIONS, INCLUDING THE CANADIAN COUNCIL FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION (CCIC). ISSUES OF PARTICULAR FOCUS TO WORLD VISION CANADA INCLUDE: CHILD EXPLOITATION, CHILDREN AND ARMED CONFLICT, FOREIGN AID, ELIMINATION OF ANTI-PERSONNEL LANDMINES, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, FOREIGN POLICY DEVELOPMENT, INTERNATIONAL TRADE, FOOD SECURITY, HIV & AIDS PANDEMIC, PEACE AND RECONCILIATION, POVERTY REDUCTION STRATEGY PAPERS (PRSP) AND OTHER INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT POLICY ISSUES WHICH IMPACT CHILDREN. DOMESTICALLY, WORLD VISION IS INVOLVED IN PROGRAMS AND COALITIONS WITH FOCUS ON ISSUES AFFECTING FIRST NATIONS PEOPLES, REFUGEES AND EDUCATION OF CANADIAN YOUTH. THE ACTIVITIES IN THESE COALITIONS REFLECT THE PRIORITIES LISTED ABOVE. |
