- In Bill C-44, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 22, 2017 -- remove the escalator clause as it relates to annual automatic increases to excise tax on alcoholic beverages tied to CPI.
- Monitor the Excise Tax Act as it pertains to tax issues affecting the Canadian wine industry
- Monitor the Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act in relation to inter-provincial trade
- Monitor the Income Tax Act in relation to replant expenditures, tax deductions and tax credits
Policies or Program
- Monitor international free trade agreements discussions as it pertains to international wine trade issues.
- Seeking to end the prohibition of transporting wine across provincial boundaries
- The introduction of a specific and directed Vintners Investment Tax Credit (VITC) to be available to any eligible winery owner engaged in the business of producing grape wine who has a permit to produce wine. The tax credit would be used for improved operational and infrastructure investments, thereby improving environmental sustainability, productivity and competitiveness.
