- Supporting S-243, An Act to enact the Climate-Aligned Finance Act, that would include enforcing science-based targets and holding financial institutions accountable to them, establishing climate alignment as a superseding duty, and strengthening capital adequacy requirements
- Supporting upcoming revisions to the Impact Assessment Act to ensure ongoing review of projects based on key environmental parameters under federal jurisdiction
Policies or Program
- Participating in advancing the policy recommendations of the Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP)’s Affordability Action Council, including building low-carbon, efficient homes, modifications to the ZEV purchase incentive program, establishing a groceries and essentials benefit
- Seeking 1.5 aligned scenarios to meet Canada’s climate commitments from the Canada Energy Regulator in its annual Energy Futures reports, based on recent analysis from the International Energy Agency that shows shrinking global oil and gas demand and warns against use of speculative technologies.
- Seeking investment and co-investment in housing programs to increase housing capacity within towns and cities in Canada
- Seeking reinstatement of the Greener Homes program
- Support for Canadian Indigenous communities in their efforts to secure the removal of the Line 5 oil pipeline under the Great Lakes
- Supporting Canada meeting its international commitments and obligations under the Paris Agreement
- Supporting federal action establishing a Federal Plastics Registry that will require producers to report annually on the quantity and types of plastic they place on the Canadian market, how it moves through the economy, and how it is managed at its end-of-life.
