Veteran Affairs - There is evidence from American studies that there is an increased incidence of ALS in miliary personnel. We would like the goverment to allow veterans with ALS and their families to be eligible for full health coverage, disability compensation and many other benefits. We are seeking funding for a research study from the government and we are looking to the government to review their policies/programs re vets who serve in the military who then are afflicted with ALS and are currently not eligible for benefits.

Advocating for an increase in funding for the Canadian Insitutes of Health Research (CIHR) with regards to increase the CIHR budget to $1.7 billion a year.
Brain strategy Canada. We are a member of the Neurological Health Charities Canada and we would like the government to work with us to develop a brain strategy for all Canadians with neurological conditions.Brain strategy Canada. As a member of this coalition we are seeking funding from the government to ological Health Charities Canada and assist us in developing the brain strategy. The cost for the first part of the strategy is $2 million and that is what we are seeking from the government.
To provide funding for neuromuscular diseases, one of which is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) with regards to continued funding from the government to help fund researchers in the neuromuscular field.
