Politique ou Programme
The PDAC monitors and comments on federal policies and programs that may impact the competitiveness and responsibility of the Canadian mineral exploration industry, including policies and programs that:
• Impact the financial environment in which the mineral industry operates, such as:
o The Mineral Exploration Tax Credit
o Commitments to make transparent the revenues derived from the resource industry
• Make Canada a more attractive place to explore, through:
o Investments in pre-competitive geoscience mapping (e.g. Geo-mapping for Energy and Minerals Program, Targeted Geosciences Initiative)
o Strategic investments in infrastructure to unlock the resource potential of remote and northern regions
o Resolution of Aboriginal land-claims
o Funding for skills training related to the mineral industry, associated industries and trades or demographic groups that might be interested in the mineral industry
o Support companies to innovate and explore more effectively
o Regulatory improvement initiatives
• Impact the operations of Canadian companies abroad
o Government of Canada CSR Strategy
o International trade and investment issues (work of Trade Commissioners)

The PDAC monitors and comments on federal legislation that may impact the competitiveness and responsibility of the Canadian mineral exploration industry, particularly if it impacts:
• The land base available for exploration (e.g. Species at Risk Act, Fisheries Act, Navigable Waters Protection Act and Canada National Parks Act).
• The mineral industry in the three territories (e.g. the NWT Devolution Act)
• The movement of an exploration project from discovery to production (e.g. Canadian Environmental Assessment Act).
• The activities of Canadian companies operating outside of Canada (e.g. Bill C-300)
• The fiscal environment within which the mineral industry operates (e.g. the Income Tax Act, the Cooperative Capital Markets Regulator).
• Aboriginal people and their ability to participate in the mineral industry (e.g. First Nations Control of Education Act)
Règlement
The PDAC monitors and comments on federal regulations that may impact the competitiveness and responsibility of the Canadian mineral exploration industry, including:
• Regulatory reform initiatives that impact the efficiency and effectiveness of project permitting and approvals (e.g. changes to Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, new regulations associated with implementation of Fisheries Act or Navigable Waters Act)
• Canada Revenue Agency Guidelines that outline what exploration expenses are eligible for tax deduction as Canadian Exploration Expense (CEE) under flow-through share rules
