Canada Transportation act (CTA) Review: Emphasize the safeguards and precautions taken in the transport of uranium and nuclear products so that they are properly understood and accurately reflected in any recommendations or proposed amendments that emanate from the statutory review of the CTA. Advocate for the strengthening of common carrier obligations to ensure that Canada remains competitive in strategic industries like the nuclear energy sector by facilitating the continued transport of these goods via Canadian rail lines and ports.
Energy Safety and Security: Advocate for the re-introduction and passage of a bill regarding the civil liability and compensation for damage in case of a nuclear incident, which would update and clarify the financial obligations of various parties in the event of a nuclear incident.
Responsible Resource Development: Seek clarification regarding the implementation of the Responsible Resource Development Plan, including any revisions or new regulations made pursuant to the Fisheries Act, the implementation of the CEAA 2012, and the application of the Navigable Waters Protection Act.
