A National Health Care strategy to strengthen the capacity of the healthcare system to respond to changing demographics and demands for more community based care, equitable access to treatment and medication and end of life care, greater emphasis on prevention and national standards of care.
Elder Abuse Prevention Strategy -
legislate a duty to report with whistleblower protection and resources to respond to reports;
training, specialized investigative and prosecutorial resources to detect, investigate and prosecute elder abuse;
sustained funding for victim support services and resources including hot lines, counsellors and shelters
National Pharmacare Policy to ensure that all Canadians can access needed prescription medications regardless of income or province of residence which will require a single national public formulary and a single price for drugs in both the public and private sector.

Informal Caregiver Strategy- CARP recommends that the federal government commit to the implementation of a National Caregiver Strategy to ensure that family caregivers can continue their vital social role by providing them with financial support, workplace protection as well integration with the formal Health Care System.

Old Age Security, Spousal Allowance & Guaranteed Income Supplement
- amend the Old Age Security Act to provide automatic enrolment application for supplement, retroactive payments and other amendments).
- Immediately increase levels of OAS and GIS to bring the guaranteed income to at least the low income cut off (LICO) appropriate for urban centres.
- Removal of claw backs in GIS for casual earnings, modest amounts of other income
- Extend OAS allowance to individuals based on income regardless of marital status
-reverse decision to raise eligibility age from 65 to 67;
- fund for low income seniors who need income support until age 67
Older Worker Strategy – to support, train and assist older workers in securing and retaining employment, to provide incentives to employers to undertake innovative workplace programs to recruit, retain and accommodate older workers
Registered Retirement Income Funds (RRIFs) - Moratorium or elimination of mandated RRIF withdrawals
Tax Free Savings Account - Retroactive contributions for older Canadians.
Universal Pension Plan Proposal - CARP recommends that federal legislators establish a supplementary pension plan modeled on the CPP to be universally accessible, affordable, professionally managed, independent of government and employers, providing a target benefit; support modest CPP enhancement as first step to improving retirement security
