Met with politicians and public servants from various departments and agencies on a range of files pertaining to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, Funding for the Canadian Tourism Commission, Airport Rents and Air Transport Industry Security Fees and Costs, and the National Tourism Strategy.

The above referenced files will remain active for the foreseeable future. TIAC will organize a Tourism Day on Parliament Hill on Nov 21st, 2006. This will entail meeting with MPs, Ministers and senior public servants. Other files likely to involve TIAC in advocacy work are the Vancouver Olympic Games 2010 and the extension of Approved Destination Status to Canada by the Chinese Government. This will involve meeting with officials from the Canadian Tourism Commission and Foreign Affairs and International Trade and possibly other relevant federal entities such as Industry Canada, Finance and Enviroment Canada.
