CCPE HAS MET PERIODICALLY WITH THE MINISTER OF TRANSPORTATION, INFRASTRUCTURE AND COMMUNITIES, AS WELL AS SENIOR OFFICIALS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT TO DISCUSS CCPE'S EFFORTS TO CREATE A NATIONAL ROUNDTABLE FOR SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE.CCPE HAS ALSO MET ON AN ONGOING BASIS WITH OFFICIALS FROM CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION CANADA, AND THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE OF FOREIGN CREDENTIAL RECOGNITION AND HOW IMPROVE THE SETTLEMENT AND INTEGRATION OF INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERING GRADUATES (IEGS) INTO LICENSED PRACTICE IN CANADA. THESE DISCUSSIONS HAVE ALSO INCLUDED THE ISSUE OF INTER-PROVINCIAL MOBILITY FOR PROFESSIONALS.IN OCTOBER 2006, CCPE HOSTED ITS SIXTH ANNUAL PARLIAMENTARY RECEPTION WHICH WAS ATTENDED BY MPS, SENATORS, AND HILL STAFF.IN OCTOBER 2006, CCPE TESTIFIED BEFORE THE HOUSE OF COMMONS STANDING COMMITTEE ON FINANCE AS PART OF ITS ANNUAL PRE-BUDGET CONSULTATIONS. DURING 2006, CCPE MET PERIODICALLY WITH SENIOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS FROM VARIOUS FEDERAL DEPARTMENTS TO DISCUSS POLICY ISSUES IN AREAS IDENTIFIED UNDER SECTION D.CCPE has received funding in the past from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade under the Program for Export Market Development (PEMD) in order to assist CCPE work with engineering associations in other countries as part of its efforts to facilitate the mobility of engineers between Canada and other countries.
