Regular communications with Health Canada regarding Canadian Blood Services establishment licence. Canadian Blood Services has met with senior officials at Health Canada (and/or other related departments) to discuss co-ordination of blood operation with initiatives of federal government to improve Canada'spublic health capacity.

Canadian Blood Services will have ongoing communications with Health Canada in the normal course of the relationship between Canada's blood operator and its federal regulator. Canadian Blood Services will continue to work with the federal government with regard to research, public health, and issues surrounding emerging pathogens.

Canadian Blood Services reviews new and proposed bills and resolutions to determine if they will affect Canadian Blood Services ability to fulfil its public health role. The Food and Drug Regulations, C.R.C., c.870, under the Food and Drugs Act, R.S.C., 1985, C.F-27 are of interest to Canadian Blood Services. Of particular relevance is Part C of the Food and Drug Regulations dealing with Good Manufacturing Practices.
