Subject Matter: Retrospective: | From November 2007 to present, the Canadian Public Health Association has participated in a number of activities which include the following:Canadian School Health Non-Governmental Organization Network whose purpose is to share information among NGOs on school health issues and activities.Coalition on Community Safety, Health and Well-being which was funded until March 2007 by Crime Prevention Partnership Program of the National Crime Prevention Strategy. The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police acts as secretariat and has funded the coalition since March 2007. The purpose of the coalition is to promote a vision and best practices for the practical realization of community safety. The Canadian Public Health Association is part of the Steering Committee for the 8th Canadian National Immunization Conference. In November 2007 the Canadian Public Health Association had an informal meeting with Chief Public Health Officer.The Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian of the Canadian Public Health Association was invited by Health Canada continues to sit as a member of the National Drug Prevention Advisory Committee Meeting.On November 26, 2007 CPHA participated in CDPAC national consultation meeting - the Cube Project - Alignment of primary prevention priorities across comprehensive chronic disease strategies.February 11, 2008 - Ian Culbert participated in National Dialogue on Future Directions for a Renewed Hepatitis C Program sponsored by the Public Health Agency of Canada, Hepatitis C, Support & Research Program.Feb 12, 2008 - Sylvia Fanjoy participated in the Expert Roundtable conference on Practicing Public Health from a social Determinants of Health Perspective sponsored by the National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health.March 6, 2008 - The CEO of CPHA and Jim Chauvin attended the Bacon & Egghead Breakfast on Parliament Hill entitled Preparing for the Next Pandemic: How we can against he upper hand against new diseases.April 18, 2008 - The CEO of CPHA participate din the Roundtable on Reducing Disparities in Health, held by the Senate Subcommittee on Population Health. |
Subject Matter: Prospective: | CPHA is a member of following coalitions who have met and will meet to lobby various levels of government on public health issues, Health Action Lobby, Canadian Coalition for Public Health in the 21st Century and is a Steering Committee Member of the Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance of Canada (CDPAC).April 1, 2008 - March 31, 2009 - CPHA has a representative on the Health Care Advisory Committee for Correctional Services CanadaCPHA sits as a member of Canadian Heart Health Strategy and Action Plan (CHHS-AP) Steering Committee.CPHA sits as a member of the Canadian Reference Group to the WHO Commission on Social Determinants of HealthCPHA has met and continues to meet informally with senior staff at the Public Health Agency of Canada to discuss areas of mutual interest and collaboration.CPHA will be invited by the Public Health Agency of Canada to sit on the Advisory Committee for the new International Public Health Department. |
