Aid Effectiveness -- Outcomes of the 3rd High Level forum (HLF) on Aid Effectiveness, Accra, Ghana: This HLf on Aid Effectiveness is part of an OECD-DAC (Organisation for Economic Co-operation - Development Assistance Committee initiative that is being led by Canada, through CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency. CCIC is part of the Canadian contingent, working with CIDA, on this file.
700 representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs) met in Accra, Ghana, at the beginning of September 2008, on the occasion of the Accra High Level Forum. For many CSOs, this was the culmination of more than a year’s consultations, preparations and engagement on issues affecting the fundamental reform of aid practices and its impact on development, ending global poverty and realising human rights for poor and marginalised people. The Accra Third HLF was originally intended by its organisers (the OECD-DAC Secretariat, the Government of Ghana, and the World Bank) as a largely technical stocktaking review of indicators of progress by donors and governments in achieving some limited objectives to reform in aid practices by 2010, as set out in the 2005 Paris Declaration.
