-- Phase II of Essential Skills Program: Requesting additional funding from HRSDC's Sector Council Program for the development of Phase II of an Essential Skills Program to help to develop tools to identify and remedy critical skills gaps in the current workforce.
-- Phase II of Apprenticeship program : Requesting additional funding from HRSDC's Sector Council Program for the development and implementation of Phase II of an Apprenticeship program, which will address the skilled trades needs of workplaces both within and external to the steel industry.

-- Adjustment, Transition and related programs : Requesting HRSDC to reinstitute an adjustment/transition program modeled on the Industrial Adjustment Service (IAS) Program that was available before.

-- Round table discussion with CEO's of steel Industries and representatives of the United Steelworkers directors and Government officials to discuss international trade with respect to steel dumping into Canada, i.e. countries selling steel below cost.
