- EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING : -
1) HRSDC's Sector Council Program, requesting additional funding for the development of Phase II of an Essential Skills Program to help to develop tools to identify and remedy critical skills gaps in the current workforce, and to update and/or develop additional courses in all formats to adress the skill needs of the industry.
2) HRSDC's Sector Council Program, requesting additional funding for the development of and implementation of Phase II of Apprenticeship program, which will address the skilled trades needs of workplaces both within and external to the steel industry.
3) HRSDC's Sector Council Program-- Workforce Development Initiative and amendment program, request funding to retain, recruit, and hire apprentices across the steel industry.

-- Round table discussion with Chief Executive Officer's of steel Industries and representatives of the United Steelworkers directors and Government officials to discuss international trade with respect to steel dumping into Canada, i.e. countries selling steel below cost.
