- Advocating for the assignment by the CRTC of a national 811 one-call number to dial to obtain inforamtion on the location of underground infrastructure prior to digging. Also, advocating for a mandatory requirement (with sanctions) to call 811 for locates.
- The Fisheries and Oceans Act and the associated regulations pertaining to Conformance Monitoring & Low-Risk Streamlining Tools “Charter” and industry needing to demonstrate compliance with operational statements by providing publically available information/reports.
- Weight and Measurements Act's and regulations on sampling requirements for in service natural gas meters.
Policies or Program
- Advance a letter of cooperation between the Canadian Gas Association and Natural Resources Canada on energy efficiency, technology innovation, and energy information.
- Advocating for policy support for the coalition called Quality Urban Energy Systems for Tomorrow (QUEST) regarding improving energy efficiency and technology at the community level.
- Advocating for technology program support for natural gas vehicles and raising awareness of the merits of natural gas vehicles.
- Advocating for the development of an energy policy framework for Canada with regard to ensuring that broad energy policy in Canada is based on energy, economic and environment principles.
- Advocating for the expansion of existing Eco energy programs within Natural Resources Canada to include programs for integrated energy systems demonstration projects.
- On occasion CGA raises awareness and provides information to decision makers on energy policy and the general concept of the need to improve regulatory efficiency particularly as it relates to the Major Projects Management Office and ensuring that natural gas is not biased in policy.
- Participating in a broad policy discussion at the Energy Sector Sustainability Table (ESST) with regard to representing the association's general perspectives on energy efficiency policy, climate change policy and energy policy with respect to ensuring policy making in these areas reflect open market principles and ensure a level playing field for all energy forms, including natural gas, in these policy areas.
- The Canadian Gas assocation provides information on and suggests a more broad discussion on how to price carbon in the context of broad energy and environment policy.
- With respect to advocating for CGA's suggested amendments to Natural Resources Canada's existing Eco Energy Programs for the upcoming budget and advocating that these programs be amended to provide improved program support for showcasing and demonstration of integrated energy systems.
