- Species at Risk Act (SARA; piece of Legislation): Providing advice and input on the successful implementation of SARA, to improve the recovery of species at risk in Canada.
Policies or Program
- Improving national implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES) in Canada to ensure compliance with the text and intent of the Convention.
- Increasing regional and national enforcement of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES) in Canada.
- Initial discussions regarding the future protection of a Last Ice Area (protected area) between the Canadian and Greenlandic High Arctic region.
- Integrated oceans management policy, with regards to contact with Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada about the need to implement integrated oceans management plans.
- Lobbied for the establishment of networks of Marine Protected Areas in Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Canada (under the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Environment Canada marine protected area programs).
- Lobbied for the timely development of integrated management plans for Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Canada that lead to the establishment of networks of marine protected areas
- Lobbied in respect to the need for stronger conservation measures for barren-ground caribou.
- National parks policy, in respect to lobbying Parks Canada about the need to complete National Park System.
- National parks policy, integrated oceans management policy, emergency preparedness policy, fresh water conservation policy, in regards to policy advice on election platform development.
Regulation
- New regulation establishing Taryum Naryiut pursuant to Oceans Act, with regards to lobbying for appropriate regulations for Beaufort Sea Taryum Naryiut proposed Marine Protected Area (beluga whales), to not allow industrial activity in Marine Protected Area.
- Wild Animal and Plant Trade Regulations (WAPTR): Amendment to Schedule 1 of the regulations to include that species are added to Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) at 15th meeting of the Conference of Parties (CoP15).
