Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution
- Bill C-11, an Act to Amend the Copyright Act, is of interest to the Guild, notably for the absence of a definition of directors and screenwriters as authors of audiovisual works. The DGC plans on appearing before the Committee dealing with this Bill.
Policies or Program
- Strengthening the audiovisual industry in Canada is a key goal of the Guild and, to that end, we often seek to talk with Industry, Canadian Heritage, Finance or the PMO to discuss ideas such as improving upon existing programs or creating new incentives for private investment.
