- Advocated collectively with other groups for all budget recommendations contained in the jointly developed 2018 Green Budget Coalition document, with special emphasis on: protected areas (marine & terrestrial), sustainable agriculture, sustainable fisheries, climate finance, Arctic Energy Fund, water monitoring.
- Communicated with respect to modernization of the Fisheries Act to restore key protections for species and habitat in freshwater and ocean environments
Policies or Program
- Communicated concerns about the lack of substantive federal involvement in the Nunavut Land Use Plan process to date and concerns about the grandfathering of mineral rights.
- Communicated with respect to habitat friendly clean energy, particularly as it pertains to remote Northern communities, and to brief the Minister on the work of WWF Canada.
- Communicated with respect to investment in renewable energy projects
- Communicated with respect to the development of a vision and blueprint for action with funding for programs that will ensure economic vitality and competitiveness, and long-term ecosystem health in the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region.
Regulation
- Communicated concerns about the scope of the review of the Canada Petroleum Resources Act being too narrowly focused on the original policy objectives of the Act.
- Communicated with respect to including fishing vessels in the Polar Code to ensure appropriate safety and environmental oversight for that type of vessel
- Communicated with respect to the Arctic Water Pollution Prevention Act and regulation of the discharge of untreated sewage and greywater from ships in the arctic.
- Communicated with respect to the Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act and the creation of a regulation that would ban use of Heavy Fuel Oil due to potential detrimental impact on the marine environment in the event of a spill.
