Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution
- Amend the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act to include an exemption to agricultural production for all on-farm fuels. For example, a grain farmer should be exempt, but also a chicken/egg farmer who heats their barns with propane or natural gas.
Policies or Program
- Programs by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to mitigate the market impacts caused by trade agreements. CHEP looks forward to continuing working with the government to address the losses caused by the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement.
Regulation
- Revising the Hatchery Regulations, which includes testing requirements for broiler breeders for Salmonella enteritidis.
- We would like government to continue to support innovation and products that have the potential to reduce the need for antimicrobials while maintaining food safety in order to make Canadian production more competitive in a comparatively much smaller market.
