- Heartland Generation plans to engage Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) on the Strategic Innovation Fund. This will include responding to "Call to Action" requests from ISED. Heartland Generation will specifically provide advice on opportunities to support, through policy or funding, low-cost decarbonization strategies and projects. The company will focus on cross-cutting and near-term opportunities.

- Heartland would like to engage the Government of Canada (Environment Canada and Climate Change) to discuss the "Proposed Regulatory Approach", published June 2019 to Clean Fuel Standard, particularly sections 2, 4, 5 and 6.

- Heartland would like to engage Environment Canada and Climate Change on Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS), under the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, focusing on "a regulatory trading system for industry". Heartland would also like to engage on Output-based Pricing System Regulations under this act.
Policies or Program
- Heartland Generation will engage Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) on policies or programs designed to advance its "Just Transition" framework. This includes responding to NRCan stakeholder webinars focusing on supporting workers affected by the phase-out of coal-based power generation.
- Heartland Generation would like to engage the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) regarding the Government of Canada's Hydrogen Strategy. In particular, Heartland Generation would like to support the development of policies stemming from the government's Hydrogen Strategy document (published December 2020).
- Heartland would like to engage on the Pan Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change, particularly including sections 2, 3.1, 4.5, 5.1 and 5.5, and Policy Annex I and II.
Policies or Program, Regulation
- Heartland Generation plans to engage Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) on the "Clean Electricity Standard." This will include providing written and verbal feedback on the discussion papers and feedback on the development of associated regulation(s) under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Focuses will include definitions on "net zero" and "fast-response power".
