Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution
- Discussions with government as it pertains to legislation in areas such as Finance, Indigenous, Transportation, Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment.
- Support of c-234 which calls for the GGPPA be amended so that the exemption to the backstop that currently exists for gasoline and propane be extended to propane.
Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution, Policies or Program, Regulation
- The Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act (GPPA) regulations should be changed to ensure that low-emission propane receives the same exemptions as any other fuel used in agriculture. Also, exclusivity for farm machinery should be changed in Section 18 (PART 7) to include farming activities such as fuel used for heating hatcheries, barns, etc. as eligible farming activities under the Act.
To extend the exemption of the application of the backdrop to propane for the purposes of power generation in remote communities. That exemption currently exists for natural gas and diesel.
Policies or Program
- Aboriginal Affairs with respect to the promotion of the use of propane as a clean burning efficient fuel in First Nations communities.
- Carbon Tax - Advocate that any application of a carbon tax account for the lower carbon intensity of propane relative to carbon-intense fuels such as heating oil, coal, gasoline and diesel.
- Discussions with government officials as it pertains to the transportation of propane via rail, pipeline, trucking and perhaps marine. Also the transportation of propane across Canada/U.S Border.
- Discussions with government officials with respect to recognizing and promoting propane as a as a clean burning efficient fuel in Canada, as it relates to the environment, energy, industry, finance, agriculture and transportation.
