Advocacy supporting First Nations’ Policing Essential Services Legislation. Such legislation would declare First Nations’ policing as an essential service in federal law and ensure that First Nations’ police services are adequately funded comparable to mainstream, non-First Nations’ police forces, and therefore permit First Nations to exercise properly and adequately their jurisdiction over the safety and security of their nations.
Seeking revisions to the Criminal Code as it pertains to Gaming consistent with First Nations’ exercising inherent jurisdiction over their lands to pursue economic opportunities, including in the gaming sector, for the benefit of future generations.
