Policies or Program, Regulation
- Heartland Generation plans to engage Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) on the "Clean Electricity Standard." This will include providing written and verbal feedback on the discussion papers and feedback on the development of associated regulation(s) under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Focuses will include definitions on "net zero", "fast-response power", "end of prescribed life", in addition to the treatment of cogeneration facilities.
Heartland Generation understands that the Government of Canada will publish a draft regulation (Clean Electricity Regulations) in Canada Gazette in 2023, initiating additional consultation. Lobbying will continue to focus on the "end of prescribed life" concept, treatment of cogeneration facilities under the regulation, and the "allowable hours" calculations.
