- Consulting and engaging with government on new federal policies and initiatives impacting the BC forest sector, such as a National Biodiversity Strategy, a Canada/BC Nature Accord, Canada’s commitment at the global level to a 30-by-30 target for biodiversity conservation, and Canada/BC Regional Tables on long term planning for low carbon infrastructure.
- Discuss impacts to industry on Critical Habitat Effectiveness Protection Assessment (CHEPA) for southern mountain caribou.
- Discussion on forestry and reconciliation and federal implementation of United Nation Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, including ownership of forest tenures and employment and investment opportunities across forest sector supply chains.
- Discussions on Climate and low-carbon forest products, including carbon accounting and the role of the forest sector in meeting Canada's greenhouse gas emission reduction goals and international commitments.
- Discussions on emerging markets and impacts to industry on softwood lumber agreement with the United States. Opportunities to expand offshore markets for sustainable forest products produced by Canada and BC.
