- Support from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, and Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. Discussing with the federal government how to access these incentive programs to support our manufacturing, research, and development activities in Canada for electrified power and propulsion solutions.
Policies or Program
- Industrial and Regional Benefits (IRB) Policy and Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Policy. Discussions regarding how GE Vernova’s business activities in Canada contribute to the value proposition and satisfaction of IRB and ITB requirements as part of the national shipbuilding strategy.
- National Shipbuilding Strategy. Procurement opportunities as a subcontractor to Halifax Shipyard, Vancouver Shipyard, and Chantier Davie as they source and supply large vessels to renew the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard’s fleet. This also includes individual procurement opportunities by other shipyards for smaller vessels with less than 1,000 tonnes of displacement. Procurement opportunities extend to the repair, refit, and maintenance of vessels.
- Port decarbonization and electrification. Initiatives by the federal government to establish a Green Shipping Corridor Program to reduce the impact of marine shipping on surrounding communities and ecosystems.
