New privacy legislation, currently Bill C-27 (An Act to enact the Consumer Privacy Protection Act, the Personal Information and Data Protection Tribunal Act and the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act and to make consequential and related amendments to other Acts) and its related regulations, to modernize The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) are being considered and put forward by the federal government.

The Department of Finance is undertaking a process to design and implement a new Open Banking regime in Canada. There are ongoing formal and informal consultations to ensure that the voice of Canadian small businesses are heard throughout the design and development process.
